Shooting for Goal at Inspiration Trust Primary Football Tournament

On Friday 24th of March, the intra-trust sports competitions continued as Inspiration Trust held its football tournament at GOALS, Norwich. An exhilarating event that saw the pupils from across all Inspiration Trust primary academies travel to Norwich to take part in the afternoon event. They were excited to play football in a purpose-built football location and said they felt like professional footballers!

Years 4, 5 and 6 were in attendance from each school and had fun whilst showing off their football skills and sportsmanship. Across 6 pitches, there were 45 matches played throughout the day with each academy having the opportunity to match up against each other in a round-robin style tournament.

Paul Wayman, Inspiration Trust Sports Coordinator said:

“This was a truly exceptional Trust event. All pupils played for their respective school team with pride and showed real character and determination. I love the way that the Inspiration Trust schools come together to make these events a success. A special thank you goes to the pupils from Hethersett Academy, who came across to referee, keep score and lead on this event. It's exciting to see the next generation of leaders emerging."

 

Promoting the value of determination, pupils were encouraged to try their best and not to give up when things got tough. Instead, when things weren’t going their way they were encouraged to keep on going and work as a team, as we believe allowing our pupils to succeed through determination in a supportive environment is extremely important for their personal development.

One of the aims of the Inspiration Trust sports events is to create a space for pupils to interact with others from different academies and backgrounds, not only to have fun and enjoy sporting activities but also to encourage personal development in our pupils and inclusivity.
