With a clear mission to provide all the children of our county with the best possible education, Inspiration Trust is delighted to announce that Carmel Greene has been appointed to carry out this mission as Principal of a new primary school being developed in Cringleford.

With a rich background in education, Carmel started out as a Geography teacher following studying the subject at University of Cambridge and training to teach with Teach First. Carmel quickly moved into leadership roles, working across a variety of schools in London. Carmel relocated to Norfolk where she took on the role of leading Inspiration Trust’s Teacher Training programme before subsequently supporting the set up of the Trust's Teaching School Hub, taking on the post of Inspiration Teaching School Hub Director.

Carmel Greene says:

“I am delighted to have been appointed Principal of our new school in Cringleford and hugely excited by the opportunity to develop something truly exceptional. I have always been passionate about the importance of education and its role in ensuring that all children have the chance to fulfil their potential. I am committed to developing curious, capable and confident children who value and enjoy their time at school, and who leave us with a breadth and depth of knowledge of the world and of themselves. With two young boys myself, I understand the trust that parents place in us as educators, and I view this as a huge privilege. Having worked within the Inspiration Trust for a number of years, I know what it takes to provide the very best education and pastoral care and I am lucky to have worked with many specialists in my time that share their expertise with the Trust’s family of schools. I look forward to building relationships with local community groups and organisations and meeting with all the parents and carers within the Cringleford community. I am immensely excited to welcome our first reception cohort in 2024.”

With a focus on academic excellence, the new school in Cringleford will provide children with a high-quality curriculum that is broad and balanced, opening doors for pupils and encouraging them to be curious about the world around them. It will be coupled with an enhanced enrichment programme, offering the pupils of the school opportunities that match those afforded to those attending the very best establishments in the country.

Gareth Stevens, CEO, Inspiration Trust says:

“Our new school in Cringleford will embody the ambitious and transformational ethos of our Trust and Carmel is the ideal candidate to lead on this as Principal. Having worked within a number of senior leadership roles, she understands what it takes to provide top-quality education and is committed to developing the whole child, ensuring they reach their full potential.”

The school, which will be in the catchment area of one of the county’s top performing schools, Hethersett Academy, promises to provide an exceptional education for local children, focused on developing the whole child. It will be a place where both pupils and parents are supported, with wrap-around care for those who need it - a breakfast club from 8am and afterschool clubs available until 5.30pm.

The school is being built in recognition of Cringleford’s growth and it will provide much-needed additional places for local children. Carmel Greene - Principal, and Rebecca Handley Kirk - Director of Standards and Onboarding, will be at the Waitrose in Eaton on 6th July between 3pm and 5pm to meet with any parents, carers, or community members that would like to know more about the school and be involved in the consultation process.
