The academy has been given a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted, which recognised the pride its pupils have in attending a school where they “can thrive and reach their full potential”.

This pride extends to all members of the school community, with Ofsted also noting: “staff enjoy working at the school and are proud to do so”, highlighting the positive relationships between pupils and staff.

Based in a residential area of the town of Great Yarmouth, the school “is an important part of the community in every sense”, according to Ofsted, and retains the ‘Good’ rating it received when last inspected in 2019.

Principal, Dean Rosembert said:

“We’re incredibly pleased with the outcome, a testament to all the hard work our staff and pupils have put in to make Charter what it is today. The amazing opportunities our pupils receive has been recognised as a real strength of the academy and I thank all that have dedicated time and effort to make this happen.”

Louise Jackson, Secondary Director at Inspiration Trust, sponsor of the academy, said:

“This outcome is something to be celebrated by the whole Great Yarmouth Charter Academy community: pupils, staff and parents. The school prides itself on having high expectations for behaviour and has built a culture based on mutual respect and celebration. The report acknowledges that strong standards of teaching support pupils to achieve success and it is this aspirational culture that we are all so proud of.”

The provision for students who need additional support was cited as a “real strength” of the school, enabling students “to make rapid and sustained progress”.

The staff ensure the support given is tailored to the specific needs of individual pupils so they can meet their full potential, not only while they’re students at the school, but beyond; with Ofsted stating:

“Students are very well supported with their next steps, including university and apprenticeship.”

Gareth Stevens, CEO of Inspiration Trust says:

“The whole team at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy, under the leadership of Dean Rosembert as principal , has high aspirations for its students.

To have this dedication, commitment and pride, which is demonstrated in the school’s ambitious curriculum and wide range of enrichment opportunities, recognised, and the positive impact this has on the students and the wider community acknowledged in this way, is fantastic.”
