This year the offer of sporting events for Inspiration Trust secondary schools has been nothing short of spectacular.

At least once per half term, the various academies come together in a central location to compete in a different sport. Tackling head on in the first term, we started with Rugby 7s, netball and swimming. These events were followed by badminton, football, basketball 3X3 and culminating in Champion’s Day. There are separate competitions for years 7-10, boys and girls, each producing their own leaderboard of results.

Hethersett Academy has been formidable, winning the rugby, netball, swimming, badminton and basketball competitions. This year, Great Yarmouth Charter Academy defended its title as event winners for Champion’s Day and East Point Academy was victorious in the 7-a-side football tournament held at The Nest.

Curriculum Lead at Hethersett Academy, Nick Austin said:

Firstly, many thanks again to Paul, Eleanor and the team for providing so many engaging and competitive competitions for the trust students to take part in. They remain an integral part of our enrichment offer at Hethersett and we are very proud to have now won this title 3 years in a row against some great sporting schools. We look forward to next years’ events at a range of high-class facilities and great competition.

The intra-Trust sporting events have been a brilliant way of bringing together the scholars from our respective academies to not only compete on the playing field but to practice sports leadership skills and to develop sporting values such as; respect, determination and sportsmanship. We truly believe that this is a unique offer from the Inspiration Trust, where our students get the opportunity to perform at some of the best facilities in the county.
