Hethersett Academy shoot their way to the top in Trust-wide Netball tournament.
Back
Pupils from our secondary schools came together to compete in a Netball tournament held at two excellent venues; Hethersett Academy and the UEA Sportspark. Involving nine secondaries, this marked the fourth instalment of Inspiration Trust’s Whole Trust sports competition programme for the academic year.
The tournament involved over 360 pupils from years 7 - 10, from all of our secondary schools, Cromer Academy, East Point Academy, Great Yarmouth Charter Academy, Hethersett Academy, Hewett Academy, Jane Austen College, King Edward VII Academy, Thetford Academy and Wayland Academy. Players competed in multiple 7-a-side games in a round-robin tournament, allowing all pupils to have the opportunity to compete and enjoy the sport in excellent facilities.
In both the year 7 and 8 competition, Cromer Academy took third place, with East Point Academy coming second and Hethersett Academy achieving first place! The year 7 leaderboard was extremely close, with the overall score coming down to the amount of goals for each team - one goal difference!
In the year 9 competition, Hethersett Academy took third place, with Cromer Academy snatching second, and Great Yarmouth Charter Academy placing first having won all their games! It was similarly close in the year 10 competition, where Wayland Academy took third place, Cromer Academy second, and Hethersett Academy placing first!
We would like to say a big thank you to the sports leaders at Hethersett Academy and the student ambassadors from Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form who facilitated the smooth running of both days, as well as The Norfolk Netball Association, with 6 qualified umpires coming along to help create a more elite, competitive atmosphere to the matches.
School PE staff and umpires nominated a selection of pupils for our individual award winners for their incredible sportsmanship and skill. A huge congratulations to the following:
Year 7: Megan M
Year 8: Rebecca N
Year 9: Velise N
Year 10: Izzy P
